News alert – HB 3751

This bill allows LEGAL non-citizen immigrants under a federal work visa to apply for jobs within the police department. That does not mean they will be granted a job, it simply means that they can attend an interview. The hiring is left solely up to the department. The bill was supported by police organizations throughout the state. Federal law also prohibits non-citizen workers to own firearms of any kind. They would simply be doing more of the clerical work within the office which in turn allows our police departments to not remain dangerously understaffed, and means that law enforcement can shift from doing office work to being back on the streets, protecting and serving the members of the community.
