Representative William E Hauter, M.D. is a physician from Morton, IL. Born and raised in Morton, Bill went on to graduate from the University of Illinois College of Medicine in 1997. 

Rep. Hauter then completed medical residencies in both Emergency Medicine and Anesthesiology at Indiana University. Bill is board certified and actively practices both specialties at OSF Saint Francis Medical Center in Peoria, IL. A partner with the Associated Anesthesiologists, Dr. Hauter specializes in pediatric and adult cardiac anesthesia. He also is Clinical Assistant Professor of Emergency Medicine and Surgery (Anesthesiology) at the University of Illinois College of Medicine – Peoria. 

Bill was elected to the Tazewell County Board and served on the Health Services and Property Committees. He was also an elected officer in his physician group, the Illinois Society of Anesthesiologists as well as several other medical societies and organizations. He is a Fellow and Delegate in the American Society of Anesthesiologists and a Fellow in the American Academy of Emergency Medicine. In July 2023 he was appointed by the House Republican Leader to the state’s Rare Disease Commission, and in October 2023 he became a member of the Children’s Health Caucus.

Dr. Hauter has participated in multiple medical missions in South America and Haiti. Bill and his wife, Shelley, have 5 children and are active in their church, adoption and pregnancy center ministries.
